After being on the ice whenever Same Bennett cheap shotted Anthony Stolarz, Brandon Carlo has spoken on why he did not stick up for his new teammate.

After defeating the Florida Panthers in game one 5-4, the Toronto Maple Leafs are currently feeling good about themselves. They got some bad news heading into game two as starting goaltender Anthony Stolarz got injured during the game.
Bennett is known around the league for being a controversial player, and doing whatever he has to do to make sure his team can win, and that was on display in game one.
Bennett ended up elbowing Stolarz in the head while driving the net. Even though the official had a clear sight of the play, there was no penalty called, and the NHL decided that there was going to be no further punishment for Bennett.

Carlo Reveals Why He Didn't Retaliate

After the incident took place, Leafs fans wondered why former Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo did not do anything. He has now spoken out on what was going through his head on the play:
"I was focused on the puck, not allowing that to go to the back door, to the best of my ability. Afterwards, I saw Stollie kinda laying there. So, didn't really know what happened. Everything happens really fast."
Fans were shocked that Carlo did nothing, despite standing right there when the play happened, but his explanation cleared the air. The day after, Sam Bennett ended up speaking out and stated that the play was a freak accident, and he didn't intend to injury Stolarz.
With Stolarz being out, Joseph Woll will be taking over as the starting goaltender for tonight's game two. Stolarz has been solid for the Leafs up until this point, and losing him could be series changing for the team.
It will be interesting to see if the Toronto Maple Leafs decide to respond to Bennett's hit tonight or if they will just let it go.
