The Boston Bruins and general manager Don Sweeney are expected to be busy before Monday's deadline.
We've heard plenty of names that could be coming to Boston, but we haven't heard too much about who could be on their way.
Apparently Sweeney might be able to pull off what was believed to be impossible.
According to Andy Strickland of Fox Sports Midwest, the Bruins are expected to move forward David Backes before the deadline.
Backes was placed on waivers earlier this year and hasn't reported to the Providence Bruins after clearing, instead Backes has been hoping for a trade.
This would be a major home run for Sweeney because even while buried in the minors, Backes carries a $4.925million cap hit to the NHL roster out of his full $6million.
Backes also carries a modified no trade clause, but at this point you'd have to think Backes would accept a trade almost anywhere just to play.
