Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney has some big roster changes coming, but it's not going to be this year.
During free agency, the Boston Bruins ended up making some moves, but fans were not too happy with them.
Don Sweeney ended up trading for Edmonton Oilers forward Viktor Arvidsson before free agency ended up starting.
In the opening hour of free agency, Sweeney signed Tanner Jeannot to a five-year, $3.4 million contract that many were not happy with.
But now, Elliotte Friedman has revealed the Bruins are gearing up for some big roster changes in the next off-season.
Bruins to make big moves in the 2026 off-season
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Boston Bruins are setting up for some massive changes next year.
«If some of these guys who are supposed to be free agents next year I think Boston wants to have the opportunity to take a shot at one of those guys,» Friedman said, as transcribed by Paul Griser of Pro Hockey Rumors.
The Bruins off-season moves confirm this as well. Arvidsson was acquired via a trade with a low AAV on his contract, and his deal set to end after next season.
Jeannot's contract raised eyebrows because of the term on his deal, he will fit in perfectly with his physicalness.
Next year's off-season includes some big named players like Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel, Krill Kaprizov, Kyle Connor, Artemi Panarin, Martin Necas, and Patrik Laine.
It's unclear if any of them are going to make it to the open market, but Elliotte Friedman confirmed the Bruins are going to make some big swings.
