The Boston Bruins are having an extremely busy Sunday.
After landing one of the trade deadline's biggest prizes in Rick Nash, the team and general manager Don Sweeney also announced a signing on Sunday.
The team has signed veteran forward Brian Gionta to a one year one way contract through 2017-18 worth $700,000.
Gionta just served as Team USA's captain at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. He played in five games during the Olympics before the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
During the 2016-17 season with the Buffalo Sabres, he played all 82 games and put up 15 goals and 20 assists and also served as the team's captain.
The 39 year old won the Stanley Cup with Bruins assistant coach Jay Pandolfo for the New Jersey Devils in 2002-03.
